"What is the purpose of the AGSA’s study support?

The AGSA is committed to the professional development of staff and encourages staff to pursue various levels of study and registration with professional bodies. The AGSA provides study support and financial assistance to enhance the development of professional staff.

What constitutes study support at the AGSA?

The study support provided by the AGSA depends on the level of study:

CTA students

The study support provided for CTA students consists of the following, in line with the AGSA’s policies:

- Classes provided by various service providers from internationally recognised academic institutions in preparation for CTA tests and exams.
- Leave days to enable students to write tests and exams.
- Financial assistance in the form of bursaries and/or loans at no interest and with reasonable repayment periods to enable students to afford academic fees.

ITC candidates

The study support provided for ITC candidates consists of the following, in line with the AGSA’s policies:

- Bursaries for the first attempt of the ITC exam in respect of the fees for the ITC board course and registration fees to write the ITC exam.
- Loans and bursaries are also available to repeat ITC candidates. Loans are provided at no interest and with a reasonable repayment period.
- Leave days to enable candidates to write the ITC exam.

APC candidates

The study support provided for APC candidates consists of the following, in line with the AGSA’s policies:

- Bursaries for the first attempt of the APC exam in respect of the fees for the APT programme and registration fees to write the APC exam.
- Loans and bursaries are also provided to repeat candidates. The loans are provided at no interest and with a reasonable repayment period.
- Leave days to enable candidates to write the APC exam.

The AGSA also pays the registration fees required for candidates to register with Saica as a CA(SA) or with IRBA as a registered auditor.

Who is eligible for the study support?

The study support is provided to candidates studying the following:

- Certificate in theory of accounting (CTA)
- Initial test of competence (ITC), including board course
- Assessment of professional competence (APC), including accounting profession training (APT)

What are the benefits?

AGSA employees have the following study support benefits:

- Bursaries to pursue various levels of study (CTA/ITC/APC).
- Loans at no interest and with a reasonable repayment period.
- Reasonable study leave.
- Full payment of registration fees with professional bodies such as Saica or IRBA when qualified.

When can I apply?
